This compound, 3. 3'-thiodipropionic acid, is a dicarboxylic acid. The ligand for the manufacture of cadminum and zinc coordination polymers with luminous characteristics is the organic disulfide 3. 3'-thiodipropionic acid. To protect fats and other foods from oxidation, this acid is employed. To stop fats and oils from getting rancid, this acid is utilized as an antioxidant. Like bha, bht, and propyl gallate, it performs the same functions. This acid can also be employed as a precursor substrate in the production of polythioesters that include 3-mercaptopropionic acid.
